"Tara na, byahe tayo.."

if there's one thing that i would really like to take a break from for now is packing (and unpacking). been to different places these past two months with varying agenda - vacation, sightseeing, company recruitment. well yes, recruitment. i wasn't really into it at first, just wanted to get out of the office without wasting precious VLs hehe. however, on my first day on recruitment i realized decided camping in the office is better after all. standing most of the time and skipping lunch were not in my expectations. conducting an interview was another thing. i wasn't the lead interviewer but still, i haven't actually been in a position where my judgment could possibly affect, in one way or another, somebody's future, or (worse?) self-esteem.

made me remember my own interview almost 6 years ago (eeck! that long?!).
weeell, i don't exactly remember everything that transpired, but the bits that i do remember make me wanna cover my ears. (aargh!) what the hell was i talking about?! and the bigger question, what on earth were they (the interviewers, who happened to be the manager and VP that time) thinking? i'm not into false modesty here or something, but the way we screen people now, really makes me wonder why was i accepted back then. i wasn't a total moron but you know, i was sort of lazy during college. no class participations unless it's a graded recitation and compulsory, no joining of organizations unless some friends drag me into it. basically, no making waves. i was too shy to show my true colors, too timd, and had the self confidence the size of a peanut. well, whatever reasons they had for taking me in, i was thankfull and still am. lots of great people here in the company, and for all its worth i got to build my confidence. and the best part, i got to go to japan for free! (err, of course i have to work while i'm there. hehe)

for now i want to keep my feet on the ground, literally. on the ground, not over air or above water. i've had 7 flights last january, and 6 boat trips on february. yes, i do love to travel, but without the loads of test questionaires, a portable projector, etc. or a suitcase of full of pasalubongs in tow. (though i wouldn't mind the baggage if there's an outrageous amount of pocket money!) besides, i'm just a lowly IT person, not a busy, jetsetter executive or something. hanging out in ports and terminals is not really my obsession. ( i mean airports and transportation terminals, not those in the computers). harharhar
