Origami

because i have no social life these days (most probably until december), i'm doing Origami. the japanese art of folding paper. yey! it's super fun! (yeah right!)

i grabbed a tutorial book (Origami for Cranky Anti-socials) and some colorful origami papers from the bookstore. on the first page, i realized the crane is not that so easy to do. the book should have been entitled something like "Origami for the Intuitive" because some steps were skipped in the illustrations, you need to guess them, geez. i really got confused so i searched the internet on how to make a crane and voila! there it was, a comprehensive step-by-step on the top of google's search results. so much for the glossy, fancy, colorful for-the-dummy book.
as i was trying to decide what to do next, the rabbit or the horse, both in my opinion were as complicated as the crane, my thoughts drifted back to the paper boats my playmates and i used to set afloat in the canals on rainy days. and also the paper planes in grade school classrooms. but i remember the paper used for those was rectangular, not square like the classic origami. so i tore a page from a glossy magazine (Leopalace monthly circulation) with Ken Watanabe's (The Last Samurai) face on it. and then i realized i don't remember how to do it anymore. however, my hands just moved without me thinking. i don't remember but my hands do. at first i wasn't sure if it was the boat or the plane i was folding, my hands just folded and pressed with familiarity. first the boat, then the plane (another glossy page from the spam magazine) in less than 2 minutes!

wow! i stood up and had some ice cream
